When did you know that music is what you had to do?
o So, we were working on this short film back in my college days when I was doing my Diploma from ACFM and that is when I got the opportunity to work in a sound suite hands-on. That is where I fell in love with the idea of producing music. I knew that this was what I had to and wouldn’t be able to live without it. You see something and you know that it is made for you. A sound suite is made for me. I feel at home there.
- What does the name Lil Sidley mean?
o My parents started calling me that. Bruce Lee – Sidley (laughs) I am not comparing myself to him, it just rhymes and it is something that was on the rounds in my brain at that point of time. My parents used to call me Sidley with love and somehow that transcended to my friends. The name kinda stuck, in a good way. I am an established rapper today.
- A lot of people are talking about SouthSlay, what is this animal?
o This animal kills all the other ones in the jungle (laughs). SouthSlay is a music company. We produce music for rappers. It has a strong base, with industry professionals tapping in from all ends. We do not discriminate. One of the things that I saw when I was in Hyderabad is that a lot of people didn’t even get the chance to perform at rap battles. Only the people who knew the event managers got the chance. SouthSlay is that flame of equality that was waiting to be ignited.
- We want to know Lil Sidley’s roots.
o Born and brought up in Hyderabad, I’m half Punjabi and half Telugu. My dreams were very ambitious but my parents have been very supportive since the start. We have a super chill atmosphere at home!
- Are you dating?
o Not really, I don’t really need any distractions in my life right now. I spend all my time in the studio. I don’t think I have the time.
